Overview of vendor-prefixed CSS properties

Published on in CSS.

For some vendor-specific CSS research I’m doing, I’ve created an overview of vendor-prefixed CSS properties that are currently supported in the four most popular rendering engines. The overview also contains references to the specifications they’re part of (if any), non-prefixed versions in other browsers and some notes on special conditions of a property.

One thing I noticed when creating the overview, is the amount of non-standard properties in WebKit. Looks like they got some catching up to do in terms of documenting their features. If you have any feedback or corrections, feel free to post a comment or poke me on Twitter!

Webkit supports the individual border-radius properties too:

-webkit-border-bottom-left-radius -webkit-border-top-left-radius -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius -webkit-border-top-right-radius

WebKit does still support the border-radius properties with their prefix, however, that’s part of a hack to maintain support for Safari 4 (it had a slighly different syntax). The problem is that Mozilla uses an entirely different property, border-radius-bottomleft instead of border-bottom-right-radius.

I did add “-webkit-opacity” to the table, as they still support that as well.

You’re missing a few properties for Opera, like background-clip and background-origin. If you want to fill in the gaps, this page lists everything the latest version of Opera supports: http://www.opera.com/docs/specs/presto26/#css

Thank you, Joel, I have updated the list with various Presto additions.

Another (minor) update is that I chose to include the default border-radius properties for WebKit, Presto and Trident. Mozilla’s syntax is different from the specification, as it is with outline-radius.
